Underwater Optical Communications

Radio Frequency waves cannot penetrate seawater. To provide communications between underwater vehicles, sensors, and submarines we have been building high bandwidth, short range underwater optical communication systems using blue lasers and light emitting diodes and advanced error correction techniques.

Amorphous Semiconducting Oxides

Amorphous Oxide Semiconductors have electron mobilites that are 10 to 100 times faster than amorphous silicon. This creates the possibilites of creating Oxide electronics that can be placed on diverse substrates such as Glass, plastics and even paper. The first commercial applications of this technology will be in Active Matrix Displays.
